Fly Fishing

i watched an ant carry sand

grain by grain to move a home

he followed the cone

of probability

an invisible trail

of chemical calligraphy

and your words enveloped me

with the vision of woman

i had never seen

between these bones

the worn has shown

heartwood beneath

and i choose to believe

what you say of me

as rain shears leaves

and quartzite filigree bleeds

as roots dissolve stone

and i open a hand, my own

to cast and receive

it is the way of the rod and reel

dancing on a thin film of destiny

and i breathe

for you who loosened my bonds

and love me deep
